Message From Our Board

Space City Sound is a renowned acapella chorus in the Houston Area. Your generous donation helps support our mission to provide music education and world-class artistry to our community.

The challenge of the coronavirus pandemic halted countless performances and pushed organizations like ours to the edge. Unable to rehearse and perform like we love, Space City Sound pushed through, providing week after week of online education to our members and guests. Our persistence paid off, and we returned to live performance with vigor, producing successful concerts in 2021 and matching our best-ever placement in the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2022 International Chorus Finals.

As we move toward the end of 2022 and look into 2023, we are excited to provide fall and holiday concerts to our supportive city and explore recurring education programming. To help us meet our goals, we are asking for your sustaining contributions. Through your giving, you can help us take advantage of our Board Matching Program and reach our 2023 budgetary goals.

Board Matching Program

We understand that it takes trust to earn your continued support. To propel Space City Sound toward its goals, our Board of Directors has generously established a Board Matching Program. Every donation in 2022 will be matched by our Board of Directors, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. Donations will support our 2023 budgetary goals:

Director Compensation
We love our director, Matt Swann. Matt works hard every week to prepare us for upcoming performances and instruct us in healthy, sustainable, excellent vocal technique. Matt gives his time and energy generously because of his belief in our mission. Our goal is to move toward providing Matt and all future staff with competitive compensation for their dedication.

Musical Growth
We aim to provide excellent music to our audiences. Increased funding will enable us to cover costs associated with purchasing music, learning materials, performance rights, outside coaching, and other costs.

Membership Costs
Our members not only volunteer their time to perform for our audiences, they incur a multitude of costs to continue their participation including dues, uniform costs, and travel costs. We hope to subsidize these costs and lower the cost of attendance in the long term.***We thank you for your continued support of Space City Sound. We hope you will consider making a donation and look forward to seeing you at our next performance!

In Harmony,
Travis Gidley
